What does she enjoy most about her job, and why is coalfamily organization so different from a corporate environment? You will find out all this and much more in the following interview.
Pavla, you started your new career full-on in April this year! What were your first impressions? Did coalfamily meet your expectations?
My first impressions were definitely positive. I worked on „test“ scenarios, learned a lot in the process, and really enjoyed it. Coalsoft is a company where I’m not afraid to ask anything.
What do you enjoy most about working as an Integration Developer? How would you explain this position to someone who has never heard of it?
You have to think, find ways – mainly think outside the box. And after delivering the integration, you feel good about how well you did, even if the task seemed impossible at first. To be honest, I still struggle to explain my position. (smile) I process data into formats that can be recorded or used in other systems. Here’s an example: At the beginning, you have a dirty carrot from the ground – I take it, wash it, chop/grate/boil it – depending on how the carrot will be used next. From test scenarios to success: Pavla's first impressions at coalsoft
How did you enjoy your first summer party in a survivor style? Do you have any unforgettable moments you’d like to share?
The summer party was more of an opportunity for me to get a sense of how many people work at the company, as in reality, I’m only in the office with two other people. (smile) It was nice to watch the tennis players because from the bench, everything looks easy.
What has been your biggest challenge since you started?
I face challenges every day because there is always something new that doesn’t work, and you have to engage all your brain cells to find a solution. But probably the biggest challenge is learning not to put myself down when something doesn’t go well – it’s a long-term process.Challenges, culture, and carrots: A Developer’s journey in a non-corporate world
How do you rate our company culture? Is there anything that surprised you?
I was surprised at how everyone is smiling, full of energy, and willing to help. It’s definitely different from a corporate environment – a thousand times better!
How do you spend your free time outside of work? Do you have any hobbies or interests?
I used to play a lot of computer games, which has changed since I started working, where I sit in front of a PC for 8 hours. (smile) I enjoy rollerblading and taking walks with my dog.
